BUSLOC Features—A Snapshot
BUSLOC is a school bus tracking and student tracking solution for Parents, Transportation Staff, and School Administrators. BUSLOC is FREE of charge for everyone and forever, allowing schools to implement BUSLOC free of any budget constraints.
BUSLOC has several features for use by School Districts. All the features are independent allowing the District to implement any feature independent of the others. School Districts can chose any one feature or a combination of features based on their needs. The six major features of BUSLOC are summarized in the below illustration.
Parents Communications: This allows Transportation staff to send mobile notifications to Parents either to all Parents or to Parents on a single route. This only requires Parents to have BUSLOC Parents App installed on their mobile device or smart phone.
Real-Time Tracking: Parents can track the bus on their kid’s route in real-time using the BUSLOC Parents App on their mobile device. BUSLOC implements this feature with the existing GPS in the school bus without the need for additional hardware. BUSLOC handles all the communications with the existing GPS provider. (If no GPS is currently available, the School District can acquire any basic GPS hardware service available in the market.)
Location-Based Alerts: Parents can set alerts in the BUSLOC Parents App on their mobile device in two ways (1) alerts based on the location of the bus as the bus enters their neighborhood and (2) alerts based on the bus stops as the bus leaves certain stops before their kid’s scheduled stop.
Latest Schedules: Parents can access latest route schedules information, in the BUSLOC Parents App, including the start and end time, stop time, stop name etc. For School Districts with routing Software BUSLOC extracts the latest data from the routing software and always keeps the parents up to date. For Districts without routing software, this information needs to be provided to BUSLOC by the Transportation Staff.
Student Tracking: BUSLOC Attendance App allows the on-board attendance of students by the bus attendant or Driver on the student boarding and getting off the bus during pick-ups and drop-offs. This also allows Parents to receive the information in the BUSLOC Parents App.
COVID-19 Checks: BUSLOC D and A App allows the Driver to perform COVID-19 checks and with the help of this, Administrators have the ability to contact trace COVID-19 cases in the routes travelled by the schoolbus.
